In days gone by it never occured to people to offer housing to sparrows. There were large numbers of them about and they would usually find place to nest. However in recent years the sparrow population has declined dramatically and also as a result of the new techniques currently used in house building it is more difficult for them to find traditional nesting places. The sparrow flat has three apartments as sparrows like living together.
