However, its origins date back to the 1850s, when William Francis Truefitt created perfumes for high-profile individuals, including the British royal family. The inspiration for this particular fragrance came from a composition originally created for Viscount Palmerston – the Prime Minister under Queen Victoria. The name of this fragrance, however, refers to 1805, when the Truefitt & Hill barbershop first opened. It also became the oldest barbershop in the world.
